The Heart of Sweetheart Mountain |
Every gig is a good time, but some have special meaning for us.
We are often privileged to play at benefits and contribute in our small bluegrassicanafolkicizing way to a larger cause. In March, we played a few tunes at the Canton Land Trust dinner at LaTrattoria. Then in June, we were the early bird act at the Relay for Life in Winsted, where folks had been walking through the night and collecting a bead for each lap around a school track, all toward raising money for cancer research. Just a week later, we stopped in at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in New Hartford, joining C-Side Alley, Gil Dube and others in a benefit for the church. In July, we played at a party for Joey Batan, a Canton friend who is battling ALS. During a break, Joey made a heartfelt speech to his friends gathered around and finished by asking all the children to come forward and sing Happy Birthday to Sean! We felt truly lucky to be a part of a special event. |
