We play at a fair number of open mics throughout the year -- to see other musician friends, network, scope new places, secure bookings and, most important, play the music we love in between scheduled gigs.
A few of our favorite open mics: Litchfield ARC (LARC) in Torrington, Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton and Peaberry's Cafe in Simsbury. Others we've visited include the Acoustic Cafe In Bridgeport, the Hartford Road Cafe in Manchester and Cambridge Brew House in Granby. Recently, we played at a most unusual (and fun) open mic at the Old Town Hall in Goshen, put on by the Goshen Players. What a beautiful place! Lots of wood, a cool stage and balcony, and some very nice people. We played 100% acoustic for an appreciative group and left with some new friends and contacts. Thanks to all who host and attend open mics. They provide a much-needed showcase for emerging acts and a chance to get out during the week and play a few tunes.
