Sweetheart Mountain played 7 gigs in August -- at venues ranging from an outdoor concert to a grange fair.
At times, the heat was enough to melt the varnish on the Martin and the fiddle! But we made it through, had fun and met new friends in the process. The hottest of the hot was August 2 at The Hollow in Woodbury, a lovely little park where we played under a picnic shelter. We were surprised and pleased to see those who turned out on a beastly hot evening! Our thanks to Leslie Gamsjager of theh Woodbury Park & Rec Department for inviting us to play in their outdoor concert series. We'd also like to thank Dr. Bob Belniak for making us part of his fantastic pig roast. The food, views and people were great! Another thank you goes to Walter Murray for asking us to play at the Whigville Grange Fair. The Grange Hall is one of our all-time favorite places -- a lovely old building with good acoustics. Now that summer is on the wane, we are booking for fall and winter. So if you are planning a late summer BBQ or (gasp) a holiday party and you could use a little bluegrassicanafolkisizing, please call or email us! |
